Best Solar Power Commercials

Recently, I have seen a number of “green” commercials on T.V., including the popular one from the Repower America Campaign and another commercial about the myth of clean coal technology.  I was wondering, though, whether there were any solar power commercials in the archives.  Why not air some commercials that focus solely on solar power?

Heading over to Youtube, you won’t believe what I found.  For the past 30 years, alternative energy sources like solar power have been advertised and promoted.  It really makes me scratch my head and wonder why it has taken so long to move away from foreign oil supplies and dirty coal.

First up – solar power literally falls from the sky.  Kind of puts it into perspective how much energy we are wasting each day by not using solar panels to power our lives.

Up next, a Discovery Science commercial that shows massive ground-installed solar panels and discusses the future of solar power:

Now, I have to admit, this next commercial from Japan doesn’t necessarily qualify as a best solar power commercial, but it is so strange, I just had to include it.  See if you can figure out this one from Sumoflam’s Asahi.  I’m thinking that the creative directors were taking some pretty hard stuff when they shot this….

Finally, I thought that this LEGO commercial was great!  Here is one sure way to teach kids about solar power.  Just watch this clip and tell me you wouldn’t buy your child a LEGO solar power transporter!  Almost makes me want to be a kid again….

I hope that we see more solar power commercials in the future.  The time is just right for people to get more information about clean, green solar energy.  The new Administration will be encouraging 5 million green jobs.  The war in Iraq and building pressures in Iran certainly show that its time to finally cut the strings from foreign oil supplies.  Solar energy has been around for billions of years – why would we not finally tap into it?
