Solar Lamp Solar Panels
Modern solar lighting gets more and more exciting with each new month!
Now, you can purchase window-mounted solar lamps. Using suction cups, you can stick them to a southern-exposure window, from which the solar panels are exposed to sunlight during the day. At night, you can enjoy solar powered LED lighting.
Shown to the left is the base of the Saint Clair Lamp. It attaches to windows using suction pads, and the solar cells embedded in the base face the sun to harness solar energy. During the day, the battery is charged up and then when the sun goes down, the solar lamp provides illumination.
French architect and designer, Stephane Maupin came up with the Saint Clair lamp, which was a winning entry for the VIA Project Assistance Grant.
Check out the additional photos to the right, below. You can see that it resembles a desk lamp with a long neck and a rectangular LED fixture.

The Saint Clair solar lamp
The unique solar lamp design allows for illumination over any item after dark. From a sofa, table, or work of art, the light will shine for hours after the sun has gone down. The solar cells on its base collect solar energy through a southern-facing window during the day. At night, you can either leave the lamp where positioned, or move it to a new location in your living space.
If you’d like to enjoy this modern solar lighting, it will set you back about $62 (45 euros). The sleek lamp should provide you with hours of free solar electricity to light up interior spaces.
