A new solar powered bus stop in Spain combines technology, renewable energy and design in a cool urban feature. The PSI Solar Bus Stop is fitted with a solar panel that uses energy from the sun to light up a street lamp at night and display computerized information on 6 bus lines. Excess electricity generated by the solar panel can be fed into the grid and used to illuminate other street lights.
Designed by Ruben Oya, the solar powered bus stop is one way for municipalities to reduce utility costs by drawing on clean solar power. With such a publicly-visible solar installation, it just might help get people considering ways to cut down their own carbon emissions!
What do you think about municipal solar installations like this?
